Congratulations to the Oregon Chapter Governor, Alexander D. Schafir MD FACP. As Governor, Dr. Schafir will serve as the official representative of the College for the Oregon Chapter, providing a link between members at the local level and leadership at the national level. Alex Schafir, MD, FACP
Education: Princeton University 1984. UCLA School of Medicine 1988
Post-Doctoral Training: Primary Care Internal Medicine Internship, Residency, and PGY4 Chief Residency, University of Washington 1988-1992; Scholar, Harvard-Macy Program for Clinician Educators 1996.
Certification: ABIM 1991;recertified 2001, 2011, 2021; Enrolled in MOC.
Present Position: Faculty Instructor, Providence St. Vincent Internal Medicine Residency Program

Personal: I’m a proud child of an immigrant. My spouse and two adult children have lead lucky lives in the Pacific Northwest where we have cultivated rich and important relationships with our neighbors. We have traveled extensively. I intend to continue biking, skiing, kayaking, and running beyond any reasonable actuarial estimate.
