Rebecca A. Andrews, MS, MD, MACP, is Chair of the American College of Physicians Board of Regents, representing internal medicine physicians, related subspecialists, and medical students. The Board of Regents is the main policy-making body for the College. 

Dr. Andrews is the Director of Primary Care at UConn Health. Her roles as medical educator include Associate Program Director, Director of Ambulatory Education for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut. She also is a primary care physician and clinical lead for UConn Health’s Patient Centered Medical Home and Comprehensive Pain Center. She completed medical school and her internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Andrews was elected to Mastership in 2025, which recognizes outstanding and extraordinary career accomplishments and notable contributions to medicine. On ACP’s national level, she previously served as Chair of the Council of Early Career Physicians, Chair of the Board of Governors, and a member of the Board of Regents. She has served on several national committees including performance measures, awards, education and publication, medical practice and quality, and governance. She also served as Governor of the Connecticut Chapter of ACP; Chair of the Connecticut Chapter’s Council of Residents and Fellows and co-chair of the Chapter Council of Early Career Physicians.

The main areas of professional interest for Dr. Andrews include graduate medical education, primary care and preventive health, and chronic pain. 

Dr. Joel Burnett, MD, FACP is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine in Portland, where he practices primary care. His academic interests include firearm injury prevention, health policy, medical education, and physician advocacy. At OHSU, he serves as co-director of  the advocacy and social medicine curriculum for the OHSU internal medicine residency program. Regionally, as co-chair of Oregon ACP’s Health & Public Policy Committee, he organizes advocacy opportunities for physicians and trainees across the state of Oregon. Nationally, he has served on the Ethics, Professionalism, and Human Rights Committee and the Education Committee for the American College of Physicians. In 2024-25 he was selected as a Leadership in Health Policy Scholar with the Society of General Internal Medicine, which led to his involvement in developing and teaching advocacy curricula across the country. He is an author of several studies on advocacy curriculum in U.S. medical education and he serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Health Advocacy, a scholarly journal which aims to disseminate health advocacy endeavors in order to achieve effective advocacy and build efficient pathways to health equity.

Dr. Sonam Kiwalkar earned her medical degree in Pune, India. She completed her residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York. She completed her rheumatology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She is a rheumatologist at the Vancouver Clinic in Vancouver WA and is the Associate Program Director for Legacy Salmon Creek internal medicine residency program. Apart from that, she recently completed a Masters in Education for Health Professionals at Johns Hopkins University. In her spare time, Dr. Kiwalkar loves cooking and hiking around the Pacific Northwest with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Leonard Mankin went to college at the University of California Los Angeles. After graduating from UCLA, he went to Dartmouth for Medical School. He completed his Residency at UCLA Olive View. He is an Internal Medicine Physician with over 30 years of experience practicing in an academic setting in Portland, OR. Outside of medicine he enjoys hiking, backpacking, travel, and playing pickleball.

As a resident, Dr. Morrison was told she was “too soft” for surgery. She ignored this advice, but after 16 years of vascular surgery practice she decided to lean into her softer side and obtained a Master’s of Science in Bioethics from Union Graduate College. Her concentration was in bioethics policy and she explored her interest in health equity with a thesis entitled “Implicit Bias in the Clinic”. She transitioned to ethics full-time in 2017. She is a proud Canadian who loves the Pacific Northwest as a second home. When she’s not working, she is lifting weights, bending metal to her will as a jeweler, or chilling at home with her husband.

Dr. Murakami completed his medical school at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn in 2005 and his internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx in 2013. He joined the outpatient teaching faculty at the primary care / social medicine residency program at Montefiore Hospital in the South Bronx and completed a 2-year junior faculty fellowship in clinical education. in 2017 he joined the academic teaching service at SUNY Downstate University Hospital of Brooklyn, and in 2020 he joined Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis as a full-time academic hospitalist. In 2023 he joined the Division of Hospital Medicine at OHSU.

Dr. Cornelius Peeples is a highly experienced and ABEM certified Emergency Physician with over 25 years of medical practice. He earned his MD from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Society. His training includes an internship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and a residency and Chief residency in Emergency Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Peeples is an attending emergency physician at Saint Charles Medical Center in Bend Oregon, and also works at critical access hospitals in Burns and John Day. He has served in several other hospitals, including Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown University Hospital, and Children’s National Medical Center.

Dr. Linda Peng completed her internal medicine and addiction medicine training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She leads the multidisciplinary inpatient addiction consult team at OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center, providing specialized care for hospitalized patients with SUD. Her research focuses on enhancing addiction care systems through the implementation of evidence-based interventions, including contingency management and the expansion of hospital addiction consult services. Dr. Peng is an Assistant Professor at OHSU. 

Mr. Robison is an epidemiologist and researcher with the Oregon Immunization Program. He has roughly two dozen publications in peer reviewed journals with close to a thousand citations. He has served as a scientific expert for NCIRD and CDC in reviewing grants, training professional staff, and assessing national public health programs related to infectious disease and immunizations. He has also chaired committees for the American Immunization Registry Association. Steve is a frequent guest lecturer in epidemiology and public health for universities in Oregon. He is a survivor of congenital rubella, spurring his interest in ensuring all children are immunized. He is also a lifelong cyclist, with a goal of trying to ride on every interesting road in Oregon.

Dr. Schafir is a clinician-educator who has enjoyed the practice of ambulatory and inpatient internal  medicine in teaching settings for three decades. He earned his medical degree at UCLA and completed residency and chief residency  at the University of Washington in the Primary Care Track. For twenty six years, Dr. Schafir has been a faculty instructor at the Provident St. Vincent Internal Medicine Residency Program. 

ACP is his professional home. As governor of the Oregon Chapter, he feels lucky for the opportunity to help his profession employ its leverage to benefit patients in challenging times. At the national level, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors.

He is enthusiastic about academic generalism and primary care, and has a particular interest in somatization. He has developed a “work hobby”: inflicting educational and aspirationally entertaining Thieves’ Market presentations on hapless internists who may have lost touch with their inner nerds. (If you have a “great case,” contact him!)  His spouse and two adult children lead lucky lives in the Pacific Northwest where they have cultivated rich and important relationships with neighbors. He intends to continue biking, skiing, kayaking, and running beyond any reasonable actuarial estimate

Dr. Laura Selby is an infectious diseases physician in Bend Oregon with the St. Charles health system. She completed her internal medicine residency training at Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis, OR and completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. During residency and fellowship, she studied biomedical ethics and is the current chair of the bioethics committee for the St. Charles Health System. She loves to travel and has a goal to visit all 63 U.S. National Parks. When not working or outside, Dr. Selby enjoys reading, playing tabletop board games, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Slatore is interested in the prevention, detection, treatment, and healthcare delivery for patients with tobacco-related lung diseases, chiefly lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  His research has focused on improving patient outcomes and identifying innovative approaches to treatment in these areas. He is currently investigating the influence of patient-clinician communication on patient-centered outcomes for patients with and at risk of having lung cancer. Through the application of comparative research methodologies, he hopes to improve healthcare quality for patients with tobacco-related lung diseases.

Dr. Holly Tse is a physician executive with dual training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. After completing medical school in New York City and residency in Rochester, NY, she practiced as a PCP for several years in Portland, OR. Her leadership journey began at ZOOM+Care, a retail medical start-up, where she supervised 33 clinics across Oregon and Washington. After further medical leadership at GoHealth Urgent Care, she joined Legacy Health as director of the Medical Home program overseeing Primary Care clinical quality metrics, then returned to the hospital as Hospital Chief Medical Officer at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center. These real-world experiences have given her the insight to “see around corners” into what’s coming next in healthcare. She continues to care for patients while running a healthcare consulting and coaching firm, Novella Insights, where she pursues her passion of helping organizations and clinicians find sustainable solutions to the challenges of modern healthcare.

Dr. Courtney N. Walker is a gastroenterologist in Bend, Oregon and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including St. Charles Medical Center, Alaska Native Medical Center, Bend Surgery Center and Central Oregon Surgery Center. She received her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Walker has expertise in treating inflammatory bowel disease (ibd), gastroenteritis, and other GI conditions.

Dr. Oliver J. Wisco is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and a clinician educator. He serves as the Director of the Brown Dermatology Cutaneous Oncology Program, Chair of the Department’s Quality and Safety Committee, and Director of the Brown University Health Cancer Institute Center for Performance Measurement. He also holds academic appointments as a faculty member in Brown University’s Master’s in Health Informatics Program and as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Dermatology at the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University. Beyond his academic roles, Dr. Wisco operates a dermatology clinic system in Central and Eastern Oregon, focused on providing care for underserved and high-risk patients.

Dr. Fawn M. Wolf grew up in Michigan and earned her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Michigan. She continued her education locally, attending the Medical College of Ohio for medical school before moving to Portland, Oregon for her internal medicine residency and chief residency at Legacy Health Systems. Her specialization in endocrinology was pursued through a fellowship at OHSU, where she developed a deep interest in the field due to personal experiences with type 1 diabetes within her family. Dr. Wolf has been practicing as a clinical endocrinologist in Portland for many years, valuing the enduring relationships she builds with her patients as well as her role in educating future physicians at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, traveling, and cooking with her husband and two children in Portland where she has lived for over two decades.
